S&C Subdivision

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The S&C Subdivision is a railroad line owned and operated by CSX Transportation in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The line runs from the Keystone Subdivision at Rockwood north to Johnstown[1] along a former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad line, once the Somerset and Cambria Railroad.

[edit] History

The Somerset and Mineral Point Railroad opened the line from Rockwood (then called Mineral Point) to Somerset in the early 1870s, and the rest of the way to Johnstown around 1880 after being reorganized as the Somerset and Cambria Railroad.[citation needed] Through leases and mergers, the line became part of the B&O and CSX.
