[edit] Wikipedia life
First visited at 15:45PST Fri Oct 8, 2004 via Google result #6 for Australian PM John Howard. Voting had just started in the Australian 2004 elections, and Howard was seeking a record 4th term. I wanted more info on his terms of office - and found it on WP. Twenty-four hours later Howard had won the election, and was featured on the WP home-page.
I was amazed that Oct 1st re-election of Irish President Mary McAleese, just 8 days earlier was recorded. I made my first contributions to pages on Irish politicians John O'Donoghue and Mary Harney to refelect the recent cabinet reshuffle.
Next day, to test WP, I researched my favourite topic - What date is the best reflection of Irish independence? The answers were there on Irish Republic. I added to that info, made a few more contributions and joined WikiPedia on Sun 10th October, 2004. Looking fwd to being a constructive member. - Rye1967 20:57, Oct 11, 2004 (UTC)

- review Irish categories at approx [[1]]
- review all links to Irish and see if they should instead go to one of the others, or not be a link at all
