Ryan - Welcome to Wikipedia ! I notice you have made quite a number of edits moving a full stop from within <math>...</math> tags to place it outside of the tags. In Wikipedia:How to write a Wikipedia article on Mathematics it says
- It is good style to put a period at the end of a formula, if that formula is at the end of a sentence. If the formula is written in LaTeX, that is, surrounded by the <math> and </math> tags, then the period must be also inside the tags, because otherwise the period can get badly misaligned.
so there is a good reason why the full stops are placed inside the tags. Perhaps you might think about reverting your edits ? Gandalf61 11:54, July 22, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry
The fem-nazis on that page deleted my well written "Defense" second that at least gave the article a small feel of neutrality. So i'll probably continue to screw with them. This is a lab computer so banning it really wont accomplish anything. Thanks and sorry.
[edit] Sorry...
Sorry, I was un-aware of that. Will do so imediatly :)
Cheers,
RyanJ
- Welcome from me too. I reverted the other places where you put the period out. By the way, can you take a look at the current version of Hectagon, and the one you modified, which is this one? It indeed looks to me that the period shows up much better if put inside of the math tags rather than outside. On my screen, the version with the period out (second one) has the period kind of tiny and half a space to the right which looks rather unnatural. Would you agree with that? [edit] I agree.
I do agree 100% - I just thought that they were not supposed to have been there - notmally in formula images they are not present, I suppose I should have read the rules more carefully.
Cheers,
RyanJ

[edit] Character encoding problems
This edit appears to have replaced some of the interlanguage links with question marks. Do you have any idea why that happened? —Keenan Pepper 01:52, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- That is wierd! The problem seems to have disappeared since I did another edit - can someone confirm that?
-
- RyanJ: It could be I do not have the correct character sets installed and so its showing them as question marks and saving them as such. I have no idea but thats the only reason I can think of. Ryan Jones 10:20, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome from the WikiChemists
Hi Ryan, Welcome to the chemistry WikiProject, I hope you'll become a regular editor. The chem folks here are pretty friendly and helpful, so don't be afraid to ask for help (Wim is our expert on hydrochloric acid, by the way). We coordinate much of our work on chemical compounds through the worklist, and we're getting a more general one started at WP:Chemistry too. I have a few useful chem pages listed on my talk page.
I love the Welsh valleys, by the way, I have a little Davis blood in me myself. Cheers, Walkerma 04:47, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your proposed additions to the WP:Chem worklist
Hello Ryan, thanks for participating in the work of the Chemicals wikiproject. We have determined quite some time ago a formally established worklist, to achieve the GOAL of the wikiproject. So, there are no simple additions to the worklist accepted. If you have another chemical that you deem important enough to also be on the the worklist (out of the 4000 in Wikipedia!!!), please use the wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemicals for proposing the addition or replacement of another chemical currently in the worklist. I have removed your text additions from the worklist. Please don't take a personal affront, as none is intended. Please use the talk page for giving good argument to after all get the chemicals on the worklist. Wim van Dorst (Talk) 17:03, 18 March 2006 (UTC).
- Hi, thanks for the nifty drawing of arsine. Of course, bismuthine, stibine, phosphine (some of my pets) adopt the same structure.--Smokefoot 15:04, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] chembox table
Hi Ryan, you're making good progress in making tables according to the WP:Chem worklist. A simple recommendation is to make a stub page for those compounds and then add the table to it. But more importantly, may I kindly recommend that you use the standard chembox, by using {{subst:chembox}} for each empty table? The chembox has been designed very carefully, and we would like the WP:Chem to stick to it. Wim van Dorst (Talk) 20:04, 20 March 2006 (UTC).
- Can do - will use that template instead :)

I have writen no nonsense on Wikipedia. Do not make stupid comments like this with out backing them up. A bit of info please? What nonsense have I added? People will take you more seriously if you do just that.
- Very hard for me to reply when you do not state the page or your username. If it was a vandalism notice then it could have been someone else using your computer / had the same IP address. Ryan Jones 10:06, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Please decategorize your subpage
Your subpage RyanJones/InorganicList contains category links which causes it to be shown on that category page. --JeffW 03:20, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Missed that. Commented out the cat. refs untill the page is done. Ryan Jones 09:53, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks. And when you finish the page, could you use Category:Chemistry lists instead of Category:Science-related lists? --JeffW 13:27, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

- Yes I will do that, thanks for the suggestion. Ryan Jones 17:27, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RC patrol script
If you are trying to install that, make sure that is under /skinname where skinname is the skin you are using, they are always lowercase and have no spaces.Voice-of-AllTalk 23:32, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
