Ryazhsk

Ryazhsk (Russian: Ряжск) is town in Ryazan Oblast, Russia, located some 115 km south of Ryazan. Population: 22,850 (2002 Census); 26,000 (1974).
The town of Ryazhsk is known to have been existing since 1502. In the late 16th century, it was a part of the Great Abatis Border and guarded the Ryazhsk portage from the Don to the Oka River.
