Ryan Monihan

Ryan Monihan was born and raised in the Central District of Seattle, Washington before becoming an official vagabond and professional skateboarder in the late 80s and early 90s. He has been sponsored by skate companies like H-Street and Death Box (later to become Flip Skateboards). During this time he was also featured in numerous skate films, most notably “Shackle Me Not” and “Hokus Pokus”.

Presently, Monihan is working as a filmmaker and writer, with writing/directing partner Chris Nieratko (of Jackass and Vice magazine fame). Their production company is named FreshKills, and they’ve made skateboard movies for companies like Flip (“Sorry” starring Johnny Rotten) and Red Bull (the “Seek & Destroy” series); short satirical films with Prince Paul (legendary music producer), most notably “The Rise and the Fall of The Dix” and “The Diary of Prince Paul”; and a handful of music videos for artists like Mr. Dead and Jean Grae. A feature film tentatively titled “In The Event Of A Water Landing” is in the works.
