Ruth Valença Correia Leite Cardoso

Ruth Valença Correia Leite Cardoso is a Brazilian anthropologist, teacher of the University of São Paulo. She is doctor in Anthropology for the College of Philosophy, Letters and Sciences Human beings of the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP).

As professor and researcher acted in the USP, Latin American College of Social Sciences (Flacso/Unesco), University of Chile (Santiago of Chile), Maison des Sciences de L'Homme (Paris), University of California, Berkeley and Columbia University (New York).

She is associated member of the Center for Latin American Studies of the University of Cambridge (England) and member of the team of researchers of the Brazilian Center of Analysis and Planning (Cebrap - São Paulo).

She published some books and works on social immigration, movements, youth, medias of mass, violence, citizenship and work.

She is married with Fernando Henrique Cardoso, former-president of Brazil. During the mandate of the husband, she established and she presided over the Solidary Community, current Comunitas, responsible organization for social programs and of volunteer.
