Russia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest eleven times, and in every year since 2000. Their debut was in the 1994 contest after Russia became a member of the EBU. In 2003 Russia was a pre-contest favourite due to being represented by the popular duo t.A.T.u., only to finish 3rd. Their best placing is 2nd, where Russia has found itself twice: first in 2000 with Alsou and again in 2006 with popular singer Dima Bilan.
