Rusovce

Rusovce (German: Karlburg, Hungarian: Oroszvár, Croatian: Rosvar) is a division South of Bratislava on the right side of the Danube river bordering Hungary.


There was a Roman settlement named Gerulata in what is today Rusovce in the first centuries AD. The first preserved written reference to the settlement stems from 1208. It was part of Hungary until 1947. On October 15th 1947 - together with Čunovo and Jarovce - it became part of Czechoslovakia according to the Paris Treaty. On January 1st 1972 it was made a city part of Bratislava.
