"Rumors" was written by Lindsay Lohan, Cory Rooney, Tarryle Jackson and TJ Jackson, and is the autobiographical account of a pop star trying to escape the rumors that follow her everywhere she goes. The song was described by Rolling Stone as "a bass-heavy, angry club anthem"^[1]; its sexually suggestive video reached number one on MTV's TRL and was nominated for Best Pop Video at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards. On February 25, 2005, "Rumors" earned a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.^[2]
