[edit] New Page for Draftees?

It seems to me that this page could get awfully full with Rule 5-Draftee names if it continues along the way it is. Would it make sense to create a new page just for Rule 5 Draft selections? Sliver7 13:59, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

I went ahead and created a page for Rule 5 draft results. It's got the results of the Major League, Triple-A and Double-A phases for 2003-2005, plus the results of the 1998-2002 Major League phases. If we can find the results for more years, the page may have to be split up (one page per decade? Time period?) I'd like to flesh it out even more (with things like notations on who was traded immediately as a result of the draft or who was returned to their orignal clubs, for example). Any help filling it out would be appreciated, as even doing this much took a lot of effort. Sliver7 16:44, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Phases

If anyone has the info on it, can someone explain how the "phases" are handled? There's a major league, Triple-A, and Double-A phase.JurgenHadley 01:05, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Most of this info is already in the Rule 5 section of Major League Baseball transactions, should they be merged? Ebryns427 02:20, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Abreu, Hoffman & Mora: Rule 5 Status

I cannot find any proof that Bobby Abreu, Trevor Hoffman or Melvin Mora were ever selected in the Rule 5 Draft.

Both Abreu and Hoffman were selected in the Expansion Draft, not the Rule 5 Draft, in 1997 and 1992 respectively.

Mora was left unproteced during several Rule 5 Drafts in the mid-90's, but was never selected as far as I can tell. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nildem (talkcontribs) 15 August 2006.

[edit] Ricky Williams

What are the thoughts on pro-football player Ricky Williams being on the list? I noticed he was on there at one point. He played 4 years of minor league ball for Philadelphia in the mid-90s. He was then taken by Montreal in the 1998 Rule 5 draft, and immediately sold to Texas. He was selected in the NFL Draft soon after so I don't believe he ever actually reported to Texas' spring training. But I do believe he's worth a mention on the list of Rule 5 selections. I mean, he's at least as notable as the likes of Vaughn Eshelman and Enrique Cruz. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nildem (talkcontribs) 15 August 2006.

The difference to me is that Enrique Cruz and Vaughn Eshelman actually played in the major leagues, while Ricky Williams never did. Do we need to mention Tom Glavine on NHL pages because he was drafted to play hockey? It's not terribly important information except for a line in his bio. My vote would be to keep that info in the Ricky Williams article. -Phoenixrod 07:15, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
