Rugby union in Kenya

Rugby union is a popular sport in Kenya. The popularity of rugby union is slowly on the up in Kenya after notable success in Rugby sevens. The sport is governed by the Kenya Rugby Football Union. The Safari Sevens has seen a large boost in the interest of rugby union in Kenya, and the competition has been growing every year, and now includes numerous international teams. Kenya is ranked 43rd in the world by the International Rugby Board, the sport's governing body, as of 9 September 2006. [1]

The national team played its first international in 1955, and is yet to qualify for the Rugby World Cup.
