Rodolfo Fernandez (born December 5, 1947 in Iloilo, Philippines) commonly known as Rudy and referred as the "Iron Man of Asia", is a multi-awarded one-legged Filipino triathlete who had finished a degree in Physical Education.
He was a housemate of ABS-CBN's Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition. The housemate he's comfortable with is, Gretchen Malalad.
He is sometimes called as Tatay Rudy by the housemates with much of respect serving as their father in the PBB house, or Mang Rudy by Big Brother and by the fans. Among the housemates he is the eldest, both in the current season and in Pinoy Big Brother history. He was the first one to be officially evicted from the house on Day 21 (February 25, 2006). When he left, he gave away keychains to his fellow housemates as tokens of remembrance.
Rudy had competed in running, swimming and cycling, and prides himself in always finishing the race despite the obvious handicap.
In 1996, Rudy attracted attention by swimming from Guimaras to Iloilo to beat Terry Fox's record.
Rudy became torchbearer twice: in the 2001 SEA Games, and the Palarong Pambansa 2005 (National Games). Currently he is supporting a charity that supports those youth especially those with physical disabilities and the differently-abled. This became his inspiration in joining the show.
Some people (or even the housemates) think that he is already physically weak due to the fact that his right leg was amputated at the thigh due to a bomb explosion inside the Alegro Theater in his hometown at Iloilo way back in 1978 and as a result he uses a mechanical hydraulic prosthetic leg since the 80's. However, his fellow housemates never knew that he is given a clean bill of health by the show's doctors prior to entering the house with at the age of 58 his blood pressure is a total of 120/80. In fact he has even recently joined an athletic competition in early 2005 held in Singapore.
He is currently married to Melba, a midwife, with whom they have three sons, the first names of which all end in -itz.
While in the house, fellow housemate Zanjoe Marudo had made a trademark quote on him saying, "Ang Iron Man nag-joke na naman" (The Iron Man is joking again) because of the corny jokes he had and just laughing to himself. He is also best known from his housemates by giving some good advice to them before he left the house.
His mottoes in life is, "In life put your best foot forward" and "I'll never quit!".
