Rudolf F. Haffenreffer

Rudolf F. Haffenreffer (born circa 1902, died Sunday, April 28, 1991) was a Rhode Island industrialist and philanthropist. Among his numerous family enterprises he was best known for his role as president and chairman of the Narragansett Brewing Company. In 1955 Haffenreffer donated 376 acres of wooded shorefront property in Bristol, Rhode Island to Brown University to create what would become the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology, one of the world's most highly regarded centers for the study of Native American culture.
