Rudbjerg

Rudbjerg is a municipality (Danish, kommune) on the southwest coast of the island of Lolland in Storstrøm County, southern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 143 km², and has a total population of 3,432 (2005). Its mayor is Tom Larsen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is Dannemare.

Neighboring municipalities are Rødby to the east, and Højreby and Nakskov to the north. To the north on part of its border is Nakskov Fjord, to the west is the Langelands Belt (Langelandsbælt), and to the south is the Femern Belt, which separates Lolland from Germany.

By January 1, 2007 Rudbjerg municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Holeby, Højreby, Maribo, Nakskov, Ravnsborg, and Rødby municipalities to form the new Lolland municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 892 km² and a total population of 49,469 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Sjælland (Zealand Region).
