[edit] Brief history

RTL Nederland was previously known as the Holland Media Group (HMG), a joint-venture founded in 1996 between RTL (CLT-UFA), Endemol and Veronica. Veronica became a commercial broadcaster in 1995, when it stepped out the public broadcasting system. RTL then consisted out of the two television channels RTL 4 and RTL 5. HMG would partner together with Saban in the television channel TV10; later Fox would buy HMG's share in TV10.

Veronica would exit the HMG combination in 2001, with the channel being renamed to Yorin by RTL. Yorin was also used as name for a radio channel, but this was later sold to SBS Nederland. The television channel Yorin would be renamed in August 2005 to RTL 7.
