Royds School, founded in 1956, is a school serving 1300 pupils in Leeds. The school was originally a Secondary Modern and is now a non-selective comprehensive serving Rothwell, South Leeds, and the surrounding areas. Since 2000, the school has provided post-16 education with its sister school Rodillian. The school gained Specialist Language College status in 2003. Royds is a designated Language College which encourages pupils to not only learn languages but to understand the cultures of others. We believe gaining specialist status has brought many opportunities for pupils and staff in the school as well as in the primary schools and the local community. We aim to provide a wide range of extended opportunities occuring during and outside of the normal school day.
