    Royce Spencer Clayton (born January 2, 1970 in Burbank, California) is a journeyman major league shortstop. He was drafted in the first round (15th pick overall) of the 1988 amateur draft by the San Francisco Giants, and made his major league debut for the Giants on September 9, 1991. In 1997 he was selected to represent the St. Louis Cardinals at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. In the 2002 film The Rookie, Royce Clayton is played by Jorge Sanchez in a brief appearance.

    On November 29, 2006, Clayton agreed to a 1-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. [1]
