[edit] Trivia
- Stone Cold Steve Austin broke the record for most Royal Rumble wins with his third win. The previous record of two wins was held jointly by himself, Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels.
- Kane broke the record for most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble with 11. He eliminated Grand Master Sexay, Steve Blackman, Al Snow, Raven, Perry Saturn, Honky Tonk Man, Tazz, Crash Holly, Albert, Scotty 2 Hotty (jointly with The Undertaker) and The Rock.
- When Lo Down were discussing which member of the team should enter the Royal Rumble (after they had won their Sunday Night Heat match, D'Lo Brown said that he should be in the Rumble since he had been in 4 Rumbles, more than Chaz. This was a mistake, however, since he had only been in 3 Royal Rumbles previous to this one: 1998, 1999, and 2000.
- This would be The Rock's last appearance in a Royal Rumble match.
- Jim Ross gave away the winner when Stone Cold finally entered the ring, saying "Austin's in, and he's goin' to Wrestlemania"
