Royal Rumble 1992 was the fifth annual Royal Rumble professional wrestling pay-per-view event from the World Wrestling Federation. It took place on January 19, 1992 in the Knickerbocker Arena located in Albany, New York.

- Dark match: Chris Walker defeated The Brooklyn Brawler by disqualification
- Brawler was disqualified on a reversed decision.
- The New Foundation (Owen Hart and Jim Neidhart) defeated The Orient Express (Pat Tanaka and Kato) (w/Mr. Fuji) (17:18)
- Roddy Piper defeated The Mountie (w/Jimmy Hart) to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship (5:22)
- Piper won by TKO when he applied the sleeper hold on Mountie.
- After the match, Piper took the cattle prod from Jimmy Hart and shocked Mountie with it.
- Piper was a substitute for Bret Hart, who was originally scheduled to face the Mountie for the belt. 2 days prior to the pay-per-view, the Mountie pinned Bret at a house show to win the title when Bret competed with a 103-degree fever.
- The Beverly Brothers (Blake and Beau w/The Genius) defeated The Bushwhackers (Luke Williams and Butch Miller) (w/Jamison) (14:56)
- Blake pinned Butch.
- After the match, The Bushwhackers held down The Genius while Jamison kicked him.
- The Natural Disasters (Earthquake and Typhoon) (w/Jimmy Hart) defeated WWF Tag Team Champion The Legion of Doom (Hawk and Animal) by count-out (9:24)
- The Natural Disasters won the match by count out. Because of this, the Legion of Doom retained their titles.
- Ric Flair won the 1992 Royal Rumble and the WWF Championship (1:02:02)
- The final two participants were Ric Flair and Sid Justice. Hulk Hogan, who was just eliminated by Sid, was not pleased over the result and grabbed Sid's arm. This help from Hogan assists Flair's elimination of Sid to become the new WWF Champion.
- This was the first and, to date, only time the WWF/E Championship (or any other championship) was contested in a Royal Rumble. The championship was vacated in December 1991 after the controversial finish to the Hulk Hogan vs. The Undertaker match at the Tuesday in Texas pay-per-view event.
- Randy Savage momentairly forgot about the rules of the match when he jumped over the top rope after the just-eliminated Jake Roberts, as this would usually mean an elimination. The Undertaker went after Savage and threw him back into the ring. This was covered up with explanation that Savage was not eliminated because he wasn't eliminated by any particular person.
- Following the match, Hulk Hogan and Sid had a brawl in the ring while Ric Flair is interviewed backstage (along with Mr. Perfect and Bobby Heenan) over his win.
