The Royal Falkland Islands Police is the local police force in the Falkland Islands. Established in 1846, it was granted the Royal prefix in 1992. The force has an establishment of 18, comprising 12 constables, two uniformed sergeants, one detective sergeant, one inspector, one gaoler and a chief superintendent. The force is affiliated to the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, and purchases much of its equipment through this force. The main police station is located in Stanley and was opened in 1873, although it is due to be replaced by a new facility on the outskirts of the capital.
