Royal & SunAlliance

Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) is a British general insurance company, with its headquarters in London, England.
The company was formed following the merger of Sun Alliance and Royal in 1996, and the acquisition of AMEV in 1997. Sun Alliance was itself a product of the merger of Sun and Alliance insurance companies. It is the oldest general insurer still operating under its original name at the time of its foundation, with The Sun opened for insurance business in 1710.
R&SA has operations in over 100 countries. It is the 2nd largest general insurer in the United Kingdom. It also has major operations in the Scandinavia, Canada and the USA. It was the first foreign insurance company allowed to conduct business in China in the 1990s.
It is listed on LSE and NYSE. It is also a component of the FTSE 100 Index, as one of Britain's 100 most valuable publicly-traded companies listed on the London Stock Exchange.
