Roxanne Cooper

Roxanne Cooper (born November 6, 1986 in Hull, England) is a singer who rose to popularity after placing sixth in Pop Idol 2, the original version of the Idols format.
She was known on the show for her youthful voice and vibrant personality. In her heat she sang "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. She received tremendous praise from the judges and was called "sensational" by Simon Cowell. She was in the top through and made it through to the top 12.
She got off to a slow start in the top 12 singing "Still The One" which the judges deemed "too old" for her. During the second week she sang "Take my Breath Away" and Simon Cowell called her a " future popstar in the making". She suffered a blow when she ended up in the bottom 2 in the 3rd live show alongside with Kim Gee. She had sung "Sorry seems to be the hardest word" by Elton John and received positive comments from all the judges. Pete Waterman called her "brilliant". So her being in the bottom 2 was a turning point for the contestants who realised that the public weren't necessarily voting on performances. She survived and the next week returned to her youthful image by singing "Can You Feel It" by the Jackson 5. The judges said it looked like "she'd been performing for years". She made the top 3 that night just losing out to eventual winner Michelle McManus and Sam Nixon.
On her last episode appearance, the six remaining contestants sang the hits of The Beatles. Her performance of "Let It Be" was praised by the judges, but audience voters put her in last place, roughly one percent behind the fifth position (held by Susanne Manning) causing Roxanne to be eliminated from the show.
