Routing protocols
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Routing protocols allow different computer networks to communicate. Some commonly used routing protocols are:
- Router Information Protocol (RIP)
- Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
- Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (IGRP)
- Enhanced IGRP (EIGRP)
- Exterior Gateway Protocol (EGP)
- Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
- Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS)
- Interdomain Routing Protocol (IDRP)
- Constrained Shortest Path First (CSPF)
IGRP and EIGRP are proprietary Cisco protocols, and are supported on Cisco routers or other vendors' routers to which Cisco has licensed the technology.
