Round Table Pizza
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Round Table is a large chain of pizza parlours in the western U.S., Asia and the Middle East. The company was founded in 1959 by William R. Larson, Sr. (January 30, 1933 – November 15, 2006), opening its first restaurant in Menlo Park, California and now has more than 500 locations. Although the decoration of the restaurants reflects a fictitious heraldic pattern since 1961, the first restaurant was in fact named after drawings sketched by a friend of the proprietor, depicting characters from King Arthur's court eating pizza. It is not uncommon for an establishment to have an arcade cabinet. The three shields in the official logo were added in 1970, and if one looks closely, are intended to symbolize the letters "F-U-N".
Round Table Pizza's current official mascots are, as of 2006, Matt and Marcus, who both appear on the company's television commercials.
