Icon & The Black Roses were once named Delightful Solitude, Silent Cry, and lastly and most notably, Blue Obsession. It was under the latter name that they recorded a demo tape, "Winter Songs", which lead to the interest of German record label Dark Wings.
On June 15, 2004, their self-titled debut album was released.
