Rotary Interact (commonly shortened to Interact, short for "International Action") is a high school service club founded in 1962 by Rotary International. It is a student-led, non-profit organization in which 239,000 young people ages 14-18 currently participate. These students, referred to as Interactors, comprise over 10,400 clubs in 108 countries and model themselves after Rotary International's motto "service above self" and 4-Way Test.

[edit] Mission statement

Interact aims to have its members develop leadership skills and personal integrity, demonstrate helpfulness and respect for others, and advance international understanding and goodwill.

[edit] History

Rotary International officialized Interact as its service club program for youths on October 28, 1962, with the intention to not only serve youth but also empower them to serve others as well.

Prior to Interact were Ro Club, a high school service club with similar goals to those of Interact clubs today, and Yrator ("Rotary spelled backwards") Club, a club for outstanding high school students.
