Can anyone assist with the blazon of the badge for this office? From the picture on the Scots Heraldry website, I would guess it to be something like Between two lions rampant respectant argent unguled and langued gules in pale a baton sable tipped or ensigned with the Crown of Scotland proper, but my blazon is a little rusty. A picture would also be good to bring this article in line with the ones for Albany and Rothesay heralds, but I'm not sure about the copyright status of the one on the Scots Heraldry site. I've posed the question on a couple Scottish heraldry fora. I'll add it when they get back to me. Also, the images from Rothesay Herald and Albany Herald look to be from the Scots Heraldry website. Maybe we can ask them for the OK to use Ross Herald's badge? Evadb 08:30, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

I found more pictures of the badges of Scottish Heralds/Pursuivants at this site while looking for something else. The picture of the badge for Ross is a bit clearer, and it looks like the lions have blue tongues and claws, not red, so are in fact armed and langued azure (unguled refers of course to hooves not claws!) I believe that when an animal is generally armed and langued gules by default unless it is gules itself or against a gules background. In those cases, Azure is usually the default. Strictly speaking, I don't think it needs to be blazoned, but clarity trumps brevity in my book.--Evadb 23:17, 18 March 2006 (UTC) Forgive me for abeing a trifle slow.
