Roscommon-South Leitrim (Dáil Éireann constituency)

Roscommon-South Leitrim is a new parliamentary constituency which will come into being at the 30th Irish general election (due no later than June 2007), and will elect three Teachtaí Dála (TDs) to Dáil Éireann.

The constituency was created by the Electoral (Amendment) Act 2005, which gave effect to the 2004 Constituency Commission Report on Dáil Constituencies.

Its territory will include all of County Roscommon and the southern portion of County Leitrim (the area to the east and south of Lough Allen) in the province of Connacht. This territory is currently represented through the constituencies of Longford-Roscommon and Sligo-Leitrim, both of which are to be abolished. The new arrangement will eliminate the breach of the Leinster-Connacht provincial boundary caused by the Longford-Roscommon constituency.
