Roscoe is a city in Nolan County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,378 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,380 people, 509 households, and 382 families residing in the city. The population density was 281.5/km² (728.1/mi²). There were 588 housing units at an average density of 120.1/km² (310.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 75.18% White, 1.09% African American, 0.44% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 20.17% from other races, and 2.98% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 36.94% of the population.
There were 509 households out of which 32.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.5% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families. 22.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the city the population was spread out with 28.2% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 19.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 89.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $23,816, and the median income for a family was $28,393. Males had a median income of $25,313 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the city was $11,792. About 20.6% of families and 25.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 34.9% of those under age 18 and 17.1% of those age 65 or over.
