  • The Kent/Lord Teynham Roper family includes the William Roper family.
  • The Massachusetts Roper family descended from John Roper who came from New Buckenham, Norfolk, England to Massachusetts in 1637. The Roper Y-chromosome project [2] shows that this family is related to, at least, some of the Virginia Roper family.
  • The Virginia Roper families came to Virginia in several waves throughout the 17th century. The Roper Y-chromosome project [3] shows that some of them came from the border area of Norfolk and Suffolk in England and that those are related to the Massachusetts Roper family.
