Ronald Kingsley Read

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ronald Kingsley Read (February 19, 1887 – February ??, 1975) was the winner of a contest for the design of the Shavian alphabet, a type of shorthand. In 1966, Read modified the Shavian alphabet to create Quikscript (also known as the "Read alphabet"), with more ligatures intended for handwriting.

He went on to create a new script called Readspel, based, probably for increased chances of popular acceptance, on the existing standard roman alphabet.
