Ronald D. Liebowitz

Ronald D. Liebowitz is the 16th president of Middlebury College, located in Middlebury, Vermont. He succeeded John McCardell Jr as president on July 1, 2004 and was inaugurated on October 10 of that year. Before assuming the presidency he served as provost and executive vice president. Ron Liebowitz (as he is more commonly known) came to Middlebury as an instructor of geography in 1984 and became a full professor in 1993. Liebowitz has a passion for geography and considers himself an authority on the political and economic geography of Russia. In the year before he became president, the Middlebury College newspaper created a scandal when it published an article citing many anonymous senior faculty members who were strongly opposed to his presidency.
