Ron Shillingford

Ron Shillingford (b. 14th February 1958 in London) is the editor of the Caribbean Times newspaper and best-selling author. He lives in North-West London and is married with two daughters.

His parents are Dominican. He started working life as a draughtsman but always hankered for a career in sports journalism. Working freelance, he started writing for Boxing News and then joined The Voice full-time. Stints working in TV included Trans World Sport and TV-AM before he joined New Nation as sports editor. His debut boxing novel "No Glove No Love" (2000) is being considered for film. His martial arts book "Elite Forces Handbook of Unarmed Combat" (2001)is a best seller and has been translated into Polish, Russian and Japanese. He ghost wrote the autobiography From Prison to the Premiership (2006) with footballer Jamie Lawrence. He has also sub-edited on most of the British national newspapers. His PR company Tasty Caribbean promotes Caribbean food in the mainstream. Shillingford's assignments have taken him all over America, the Caribbean, Europe and Africa. He has interviewed Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, John Barnes and John Fashanu.
