Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madrid

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madrid is part of the Roman Catholic Church in Madrid. The Diocese of Madrid was founded on 7 March 1885 by Pope Leo XIII. It was raised to the level of an archdiocese on 25 March 1964 by Pope Paul VI. The current Archbishop of Madrid since 28 July 1994 is His Eminence Antonio Rouco Varela.
