[edit] Your email dated 20 November 2006
I notice that above you've been warned about violating the Wikipedia:No legal threats policy regarding this edit on User:Maltesedog's user talk page, and you've stated such again in your email to me. Please note that this is not a governmental organization and as such, we have no legal obligation to create articles on anyone or anything. It is, in fact, up to the community to determine if the subject qualifies for an article.
If you feel that your article needs inclusion, mention it on Deletion Review and allow process to take its course.
Please be aware that any further legal threats against any editor or admin on this site will result in removal of your editing privileges, most likely permanently.
Also, I'm not sure where you determined that Maltesedog is an administrator (as you mentioned in your email) but this is incorrect.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. ~Kylu (u|t) 06:21, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] What A Pity
It is a real Pity. After contributing an article on myself, without knowledge of the Autobiographies Policies the article was deleted.
After only realising several months after this was deleted, I again submitted the information, although it was not really ready as an article. Again the article was deleted and the page was protected in order for not to be resubmitted.
After reading the deletion log I realised that it was deleted on ground of 'Notability'. Also inadequate terms were used by a user instead of the terms 'Not Famous' during the process of deletion endorsement.
After realising the terms used I used a term myself which was not acceptable under Wikipedia Policies and which is considered as a 'Legal Threat'. Again I was unware of such policies, since at the time (and still quite am) was new to the Wikipedia system and therefore honestly appologised. Appologies were accepted.
Also the person who in good faith used the inadequate terms to jsutify the article as 'Not Famous' appologised for his mistake, which I was aware was a mistake in the first place and I accepted appologies too.
Since I have submitted various material from third party outside sources as reference to 'Notability', my article is at the moment still under debate whether or not it should be included in the Wikipedia. The material I supplied are mostly news paper clips and articles posted on popular news websites.
The article in question is Brian Role and who is a magician who is quite 'well known' both in Malta where based and more abroad. Much of the public in general do not know Brian Role by the real name, many know the stage names Rolemagic, Brian & Lola or more recently as The Palmers Magic. But brian Role is well known in the Magic Fraternity and there is a list of other magicians listed in Wikipedia, some of which i have never heard of myself even though I study the art.
This is why wikipedia seemed importnat to me as it offers a good source or information and knowledge, the reasons Wikipedia was created in the first place. I reckon it would be great for other magicians to find out about other magicians who have acheived something different and unique in their country too.
As the page was deleted by 'users' who had no knowledge of Magic and Magicians, especially those making a mark in Malta, I personally think that it was unfair to be deleted in such a manner, without proper consultation. The least they could have done was make a google search on the subject to verify certain things. A simple google search would have led them into other sources that would have verified the Notability of the subject without having to go through all this red tape.
At the moment the issue is being slowly resolved in the Deletion REVIEW Page and maybe sone enough it may be relisted since most are in foavour of relisitng the article. This article may help other magicians looking up terms that lay people (when I say lay people I mean people who do not or have not studied the art o magic and who do not know certain terms and principles of the art) cannot understand and which would contribute alot to the world of magic in general. Altough it can take a person a few minutes to learn a magic trick, it takes years for a person to truly study the art of magic and to understand the principles that enable the person to 'perform it in a truly magical way. The true secret of magic is that anyone can learn to 'do' a trick but not everyone can 'present' it in a magical way.
Another thing that bothered me was the fact that the article was also described or thought to be an advert but really it was not. In fact if it was an advert I would have used not the real name but the name I go by ROLEMAGIC. Very little people know who Brian Role is and I wish to leave that way only to be discovered by those truly interested in the art of Magic.
I am also thanking all those who are viewing the Deletion Review and who are understanding the concept behind the article.Rolemagic 23:15, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Dear ROLE MAGIC, Based on the new articles, you have indicated, I have myself change my pronouncement from NEUTRAL to RELISTING. I believe, that relisting of the article is likely to take place.
I changed my mind, following your willingness to gain knowledge and follow the rules of wikipedia. I wonder if you could contribute further on article relating to magic on Wikipedia. The afd, remains valid at the time it was done because it was not contested, and the material provided was not available at the moment it was done.
I hope that the matter is now clear. Should you require any help on wikipedia, please do not hesitate to contact me or an administrator. Maltesedog 15:52, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
