[edit] Cuban Baseball
Hey Rolando, you might be just the editor to take a look at this page - Baseball in Cuba. I know nothing about baseball and it could really do with some input. Please take a look.--Zleitzen 06:25, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Rutgers
Noticed that you were listed in the Wikipedians who are from Rutgers category. I am currently doing a restructuring and expansion of the Rutgers University article, and working on affiliated articles down the road (like Rutgers-Newark and Rutgers-Camden, various divisions of the university, etc. for starters) So if you want to join in and get your hands messy, feel free. If not, tell me how I'm doing. —ExplorerCDT 04:43, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments and support. I'm looking to recommend RU as either a Good Article or a Featured Article candidate in the next week or so. —ExplorerCDT 21:30, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cuban baseball teams
Thanks for all the work you are doing there. I note that most teams are listed by the province name - I wonder if it would be better to have (say) "Vaqueros (baseball team)" or even "Vaqueros (Cuban baseball team)".
Though, as they are often just referred to by the province, perhaps you are right. -- Beardo 13:38, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes! Kudos on your work here with Cuban Baseball. We could really use someone like you over at the Page baseball-reference wiki. Nobody seems to know much about the subject. --Exshpos 04:44, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re your tips on colours for Football kit templates
Hi there, cheers for the tips on use of colours. Actually I had tried using "hex" codes instead of colour names but still couldn't get it right. Thanks for the link, I'll have a bash at a few more.
ps - your attempt at Folkestone Invicta's colours looks pretty spot on to me! Well done & cheers.

[edit] Tips on reporting vandalism
Your report of a vandal should have used a specific {{IPvandal|ipaddress}}, but if you take a look at WP:VANDAL, it explains this and more. Thanks for reporting the vandal, who is now blocked. --Oscarthecat 21:17, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Baseball Templates
hello, i would like to ask for abit of help please. i have made some modifications to {{Infobox baseball team}} and changed the ABL template at {{ABL infobox}} to use these, now im having a problem getting the template to work at all! i would really appreciate it if you had a look at it and got this back up and working User:Dan027/TestPage1. cheers mate --Dan027 11:52, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think it was just a missing "]". Take a look. Rolando (talk) 12:30, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- ha sounds about right, you have no idea how many times i looked over it and couldnt find the mistake, thanks --Dan027 12:36, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

-
- Yeah. The template is complicated. The way I test it when I see a problem like this is to cut all the parameters and then paste them back one by one until the problem appears. Fortunately, the problem parameter was close to the top! Rolando (talk) 12:38, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Baseball uniform template
me again, ive been adding the uniforms to afew articles. two things i have noticed is: most teams have a different coloured belt, is it possible to modify the template to include this? and piping on the ends of the arms, im not relli sure about a solution for this one apart from creating a new image set each time, or if that can be a variable colour like the arms are(just the very last part of the arm) --Dan027 09:15, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- For the edge of the arms, try the _borderonwhite pattern (e.g., h_pattern_la=_borderonwhite) and the color of the piping (e.g., h_leftarm=cc0000). Try that; if it's not quite right, let me know. As far as the belt, I just made some patterns that should work: Template talk:Baseball uniform#Pants. Those will work for white/grey pants with a colored belt. If you have something stranger (e.g., blue pants with an orange belt) we can work on that. Let me know. Rolando (talk) 14:01, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- thanks i should be able to make do with those, in the pants a pinstrip with belt would also be usefull --Dan027 16:01, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Do you mean the belt to match the stripes? One recommendation/request: When creating sleeves, you don't need to create one version for home and one for away... you should be able to use transparency to do both, if the stripes/ends/whatever are the same. Does that make sense? Rolando (talk) 16:29, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- I had a few minutes so I put my effort where my mouth was and made transparent sleeves for Melbourne Monarchs and Brisbane Bandits. I think the "bandits" and various "Monarchs" left/right arm images are made superfluous. Didn't want to touch Perth Heat because the "body" image is involved there. Rolando (talk) 20:52, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- thanks i was going to add them to the template with a different name but couldnt figure it out. the Melbourne Reds had double piping with blue down the middle, should i just alter the body myself or can this be done with the template? also the Brisbane Bandits home top has piping on the sleves same as the away ones, wasnt sure how to change that one, the same thing with the Canberra Bushrangers but with light blue and navy. --Dan027 07:27, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hey there. There is an eternal debate at Template talk:Football kit: just how much detail do you want to include? My only suggestion is to use transparency and to add the sleeve and/or shirt pattern to {{Football kit/pattern list}} or Template talk:Baseball uniform as appropriate. I added double piping jerseys: use _doublepipingonwhite and _doublepipingongrey and added them to the Melbourne Reds--not sure if this is entirely right, but you should be able to use those as a guideline. For the pattern to show up in the template, it has to be named in a particular way... with an underscore, e.g., "Kit_body_baseball_pipingonwhite.png", whereas I noticed you named yours without the underscore, e.g., "Kit_leftarmbandit.png" Rolando (talk) 14:59, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Me again, i got all the ABL uniforms done, i have started on some of the division one state league teams, afew of them use a uniform of grey with pinstrips, would you be able to make the alterations to the white template so it does the same thing but the body is grey? and also the pants. thanks mate. --Dan027 11:08, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] checkboard pattern
I'm guessing you're probably using a LCD display, which is why you're not getting enough contrast to see the pattern. Using a fixed colour is not a great idea because it's not always obvious it's supposed to represent transparency. ed g2s • talk 09:50, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I added it to MediaWiki:common.css a while back. The file it uses is commons:Image:Checker-16x16.png. A lot of people do have LCDs but have a look at WP:FPC#Is_my_monitor_calibrated_correctly.3F. We could increase the contrast of the pattern, but if we turn it up too much to compensate for low contrast LCDs, it will look too strong on high contrast LCDs and CRTs. [edit] Winter League Help
Ro,
Thanks for the help. I am wondering if Hawaiian League play is at the same level as other Winter Leagues. I suspect not, but am not sure and am open to editorial assistance in this regard. TonyTheTiger 03:28, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I responded on your talk page. I think it makes sense to include it in the list of other winter leagues. Rolando (talk) 16:44, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your shirt emblem experiment
i noticed you have the experiment on your user page, none of the examples work with IE, however the large Licey logo works fine with the plain background, and the other two dont work. just for background knowledge, i created the Hawks emblem using photoshop. --Dan027 14:58, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Fair Use isn't allowed outside the main namespace, and I'm not sure how necessary it is on the kit templates. The templates were designed to show the basic team colours. If you want to mention who the sponsor is you can do so freely by mentioning their name. ed g2s • talk 16:13, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- Responded at ed_g2s's talk page. Rolando (talk) 19:20, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Tigres del Licey logo reverse.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Tigres del Licey logo reverse.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 20:11, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Singles on sports league
Currently many pro gaming leagues have both FFA/Singles and team tournaments. For example MLG SSBM and Halo 2 have both team play and singles(basically 1v1 and team vs team). This is the same with some CPL games including Quake. So the template definately needs a singles/FFA section. I am not sure by what you mean when you say make it optional and document it. If you could added that back in for me to your vision that would be great. Cheers Valoem talk 23:47, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! I added it as an optional parameter. Now it doesn't show up unless requested. See Template talk:Infobox sports league for the cleaned up documentation. Rolando 00:04, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Show/Hide
You added a show/hide feature to a baseball template that I created. I am wondering how I can make the template default to hide mode. Please reply at my talk page. TonyTheTiger 19:28, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
