[edit] Self promotion?
Zeq deleted the sentence "A collection of his articles on the Middle East was published in 2000 by the International Socialist Group, under the title Palestine's Second Intifada", on the grounds that this was "self-promotion". This is bizarre, since it was Zeq himself who first included that sentence, in the article he originally created on 9 June 2006. --RolandR 00:34, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
what so bizzare ? promotion via external links is not allowed. Zeq 05:18, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
So why did you include it in the first place? I merely corrected the URL when rthe site changed.--RolandR 12:09, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I incorrectly identified this as a user page, oops. Yes, it is true that self-promotion is frowned on, and usually people are discouraged from editing articles about themselves. However, if Roland Rance is deserving of a Wikipedia article (and I think he is) then giving links to his publications is perfectly normal, reasonable, and not against the rules in the slightest. Given that this link was not even added by Roland originally, Zeq has no case at all. --Zerotalk 12:50, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
