Roll forming is a continuous bending operation in which sheet or strip metal is gradually formed in tandem sets of rollers until the desired cross-sectional configuration is obtained. Roll forming is ideal for producing parts with long lengths or in large quantities.

Any cross-section can be produced, simple and most complicated ones. Each profile needs a special set of roll tools. First the flower pattern has to be designed, that means the profile cross-section for each stand. Afterwards the roll contours are derived from the profile contours. The roll form design software UBECO PROFIL enables design and quality management. A special feature of the software is the Finite element analysis simulation of the roll forming process and the verification of the designed roll tools.

Another software tool is COPRA RF [1].

Another software tool is Rollform by Synapse.
