Roland Pröll

Prof. Dr. Roland Pröll (*1949 in Unna, Germany) is a german pianist, conductor, composer, musicologist and professor for music.

Roland Pröll get his first pianolessons at the age of 5. When he was 11, he became a student of Prof. Dieter Wollert at the Dortmund Musicuniversity, Germany. There he passed his diploma with distinction. After this he continued his studies in Paris at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique with Messiaen, Loriod, Sancan, Dubois and other famous teachers. He studied also - besides the piano- other fields in music, like conducting and composing. Especially in France teached method of Solfège was a formative influence for him, so that he supports the dissamniation all over the world. Besides he finished his studies in musicology at the Sorbonne in Paris and became a Ph.D., (Doctorat d`Université). After this he became a student of Arthur Rubinstein and he worked with other famous musicians.
After many first prices in international competitions, he gives concerts all over the world. He is a guest of Sydney Opera House, Berlin Philharmonie and others. Especialy in Japan and Korea, and recently in China, he became a famous musician. Since 2005 he works with the Murcia Symphony Orchestra and he goes on tour with them through Spain. He recordes many cds and there are also many special recordings for television- and radiostations all over the world.
Till 1996 he taught at the Dortmund Music university as a professor and he leads the institute from 1988 to 1990 as dean. From 1999 to 2002 Pröll was the dean of the Ibach-Academy in Schwelm, Germany, wich was founded in cooperation with him. In 2006 he founded, as artistic leader, a public welfare musicschool in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany.
In 1987 he founded the international Schubert-Competition in Dortmund, today one of the great pianocompetitions. (Today's leader is Arnulf von Arnim)
Today Roland Pröll holds professorships for piano and chambermusic at the Atsugi Showa Musicuniversity in Tokyo, Japan, at the Conservatorio Superior de Musica in Murcia, Spain, and at the Conservatory in Osnabrück, Germany.
He gives masterclasses and concerts all over the world.
