Rokur Gepta

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rokur Gepta is a character from the Star Wars Expanded Universe, where he is the last of the Force-sensitive Sorcerers of Tund, and ruler of The Centrality. He was an enigmatic and peculiar person, around whom (and the Sorcerers) swirled many strange rumours and conjectures. Some said he could conjure a man's greatest fears from within his mind or simply torture them. His very size was a matter of dispute, with reports varying from a titanic to a dwarfish cowled and robed figure. After he learned their secrets, he killed all the Sorcerers of Tund, and reduced their planet to a "glowing ball of ash", Gepta began plotting to take over the galaxy. Circa 5 BBY, Gepta contacted and allied with Emperor Palpatine. For various services rendered, Gepta received a decommissioned Imperial cruiser, the Wennis and a trained crew, with which he travelled the galaxy, seeking power, influence, and ancient artifacts. It was during a tussle over one such artifact, the incalculably valuable "Mindharp of Sharu", that Gepta was defeated by an itinerant smuggler named Lando Calrissian and his droid, Vuffi Raa. Gepta's hatred knew no bounds as he relentlessly hounded Calrissian from system to system. Finally, at the interstellar gas cloud and structure (the Starcave of Thonboka), Gepta challenged Calrissian to a personal duel. To his immense surprise, Calrissian seized Gepta, and squeezed him in his fists, killing him. Gepta had turned out to be a Croke, a grayish snail-like fist-sized sentient being with a penchant for deception, mental illusion, and disguise.
