Thankyou for your comment Rogerthat, but I was wondering what kind of argument you were referring to. A disagreements of viewpoints, but an argument? Regards, ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! - review me 05:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Images from Wikimedia Commons
I noticed some AFL player articles no longer show a player photo. Has there been some change to the AFL player template that's changed photo behaviour? The photo will display if it is referenced outside the template. Diverman 07:05, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply - hopefully the Template:Infobox afl player will be fixed soon. Diverman 22:10, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Grant Smilie
A tag has been placed on Grant Smilie, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person, group of people, or band, but it does not indicate how or why he/she/they is/are notable. If you can indicate why Grant Smilie is really notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly, and also put a note on Talk:Grant Smilie. Any admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. You might also want to read our general biography criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that admins should wait a while for you to assert his/her/their notability, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page, and then immediately add such an assertion. It is also a very good idea to add citations from reliable sources to ensure that your article will be verifiable.--DCAnderson 05:06, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
I would kindly ask that you not call me an "idiot" or anything I do as "bullshit". SeeWP:Civil and WP:NPA. I'm sorry if I'm not more familiar with Australian Pop music, but the article gave no citations and nothing linked to it at the time except for an article about a college. Frankly, I'm not psychic, and if he had a number one hit there is no way for me to tell from reading the article.--DCAnderson 12:40, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Portal:Australia/Anniversaries
Hi Rogerthat. I have started a proposal at Portal talk:Australia for an inclusion of an anniversary/on this day section to be displayed on the portal. If you are interested in this making this happen, you can comment there or go to the anniversary pages and adding in things that you consider to be notable. (I don't know which AFL players are the most notable in history, so you might want to add their birthdays/deaths, etc). Regards, Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 04:13, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:AFL : Anthony Appleyard
- Thanks for your message. I live in south Manchester in England. I regret that I have no skill or interest in watching or playing any sort of football or other sports that use a ball. Anthony Appleyard 16:27, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A couple of questions
I have just a couple of questions, just out of curiosity, because i'm not sure i understand the reasoning behind two of your edits. Is there any particular reason you put the link to Victorian Premier Cricket on the Victorian Premier League page, but not vice versa? And why was Peter Moore redirected from 'australain rules footballer' to just 'footballer'? I don't mean to sound accusational, just asking, thanks Blackmissionary 10:50, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] One more question
Ok, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Just one more. You added a 'category' for the williamstown userbox i created, and i just wanted to know how that's done so i can add one to one of my other userboxes. thanks Blackmissionary 05:16, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:AFL
Thanks for your message. I just read the WP:AFL page but I'm still not quite sure whether any specialised tasks will be assigned on me if I joined this WP. You know...I currently live in Hong Kong and it's quite hard to follow the footy news here. It might be difficult for me to do frequent contributions or edits on AFL-related pages here.
Your answer will be appreciated. Thanks! Celticshk 09:08, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Blnguyen's RfA
Hello Rogerthat. Thank you for gracious statement in my Editor review, as although you did not participate in the my RfA, it was quoted by many RfA participants and strongly contributed to the overwhelming and flattering result in my RfA of (160/1/0), and leaves me in a position of having to live up to a high standard of community expectation. If you need help with admin related tasks, feel free to ask me - and of course, if I make any procedural mistakes, feel free to point them out. Of course, I look forward to working with you in the future. Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 06:19, 29 May 2006 (UTC) |
- Well, adverts by the candidate aren't allowed, so I didn't lobby you. Also, you can keep up do date with RfA by using User:Blnguyen/RFA summary and pasting the code into a page of your choice. I really think you should keep up to date with this, as admins are there to facilitate the conditions for building the encyclopedia, so writers like yourself should take a keen interest in who is selected to administer WP. Admins shouldn't be elected by other admins - it's not a closed social club!. On that note, Richardcavell who you have been in contact with is up, so you may want to participate

[edit] WP:AFL
I thought I had an account, but I guess not. I checked out WikiProject AFL, I'll try to add things every so often.
I'm a Bombers supporter too, tough times right now. I watched the whole game last night and didn't rip my guernsey off in anger.

[edit] I'm coming back
Hey. Just though I'd drop you a line saying I've just about run dry on articles to work on in my other WikiProjects so I'm going to get stuck right into the AFL Drafts over these coming holidays which start this Saturday for me. I feel kind of bad because you sent me a message a few months back saying you thought the project was getting somewhere and then you didn't here from me again as far as AFL edits were concerned so I think its about time I made it up to you. [edit] Nathan Van Berlo
Hey mate
I noticed that recently two ip addresses made changes to the Nathan Van Berlo page that I created a week or two ago. (see here)
I was wondering if I could delete these edits, as I don't believe either contribute to this article, as it seems to be talking about an actor. I was wondering if you knew anything about these comments, otherwise I will delete them from the page.
Thanks, Jasrocks 23:51, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:AFL
I appreciatew the friendly invite but those edits I made yesterday on various AFL stadium stubs were only because of my involvement with the stub sorting Wikiproject. I'm afraid that when I think AFL, I think of Arena football not Aussie football. Caerwine Caerwhine 13:58, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Melbourne University Football Club
Hello Rogerthat. Can you have a look at this page please? A user has told that because his Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adelaide University Lacrosse Club got deleted, then this should also be deleted. I disagree, as it was a VFL club, and thus was in the top level of Australian Rules at the time, but the user thinks that the VFL doesn't count. Many thanks, Blnguyen | rant-line 02:25, 16 June 2006 (UTC).

Hey Rogerthat, thought you'd be interested in the new Australian Football League rewrite. I have made Australian Football League/New article so we can rewrite it. Cheers, Jasrocks (talk) 09:34, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- I shifted it to User:Jasrocks/Australian Football League, coz you're not meant to make subpages like that off the main article (futurama did it!). Yer maybe I should start from stratch. Still got three weeks holidays. Jasrocks (talk) 11:04, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Changes to Essendon FC Page
FYI. I fixed the entries for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essendon_Football_Club#Champions_of_Essendon as I had noticed that a couple nuffs had added their names to the list of 25 Champions of Essendon, conveniently putting themselves 2nd and 2nd last in the hope that no one would notice. I compared the wiki list to that at http://www.essendonfc.com.au/champions/. I've also fixed a couple other (vandal) errors. (Ash73 01:05, 6 July 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Wagga Wagga
Rogerthat, a new editor User:Steveswain has been inserting Wagga Wagga as the birthplace of various footballers and sportspeople such as Leigh Matthews, Dermott Brereton, Tony Lockett, Drew Morphett, and Royce Hart. I asked him to cite sources but he seemed to stop posting after that. I have no idea if these edits are correct or not but some seemed bogus so I reverted all of them. Since you are the Aussie sports guy, I thought you might be able to take a look and revert me if they are indeed correct. Thanks mate. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 11:48, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Martin Mattner
Hey, just wondering if you could copyedit the Martin Mattner article. I'm ambious and am hoping to make it a featured article some day. Any small edits would be great, but can you also tell me which sections need to be expanding. I'm also imagining that you havent fixed the pic in the infobox yet. Cheers, Jasrocks Talk 11:24, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello, Rogerthat.
You messaged me about joining a Wikipedia AFL project. I love my footy but not that interested to join so I'll just keep adding in information here and there on AFL to keep your website running.
Cheers.
[edit] AFL/VFL premiers list
I have changed the "top 4 clubs" on the list to "the last 10 seasons". this shows the top clubs over the last 10 years as opposed to all time which is misleading as of recent form. Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Australian Football League premiers if you want to change your opposition towards the article. Cheers --AFL45 10:20, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Port Adelaide Magpies
The Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club was actually not created until after the Power joined the AFL. There is a clear mix of the information with Magarey Medal's only being from the new club but premierships and most of the article still being about the Port Adelaide Football Club. I'm happy to fix the information just let me know which way you want me to go. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Robbo. (talk • contribs).

[edit] AFL welcome template broken
Hi Rogerthat. You may have noticed a few mistaken edits to {{Wpafl2}} from myself of late. The reason for this is, the template is somehow broken. When it's pasted to talk pages, the edit link does not allow an editor to edit the talk page concerned, but rather takes the editor onto editing the template itself. See User talk:Devoindahouse for an example, and click the edit link at the header of your AFL template to see what occurs. -- Longhair 09:47, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
- Not sure. I gave it a glance, and couldn't see a reason why it's failing like that. Perhaps share the problem with your project members. There's some cluey types around here. If you wan't I'll have another look in an hour or so and see what I can work out if the problem still exists. -- Longhair 10:37, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
-
- I think I've fixed it by removing the section headers. When using the template, perhaps take the time to create your own sections, as I think this was leading to the edit problem. Give it a try and see how she goes. -- Longhair 10:39, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

- I no longer live in Geelong, and pretty much gave up on those Cats a while back mate, circa '89. The problem's solved for now. It may look a little messy where you've already used the template, but that won't bring the moon crashing down or anything soon. Sorry I had to make so many mistakes to realise there was a problem. :) -- Longhair 10:43, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

- It was an awesome game. You just had to see it live to feel the pain I guess. So you never saw many of the greats play? I've kinda lost touch with modern footy, hence my only AFL contributions being kinda old hat. I was almost 18 when that game kicked off. [edit] Image:Stephen Peak.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Stephen Peak.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok ☠ 04:20, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
