Rogers Smith

Rogers Smith (1953-present), is the Christopher H. Browne Distinguished Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a leading scholar in American Political Thought and New Institutionalism.

He graduated from Harvard University in 1980 with a PhD in Government. He was hired at Yale University, where he rose up the ranks from assistant professor to Alfred Cowles Professor of Government. In 2001, he moved to the University of Pennsylvania.

Perhaps Smith's most famous work is Civic Ideals, which was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in history in 1998.
