Roger Rasheed

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roger Rasheed (born March 10, 1969) is an Australian sportsman and tennis coach of Lebanese descent.

Born in Adelaide, Rasheed was a sportsman who dabbled in Australian rules football, playing 7 games in the SANFL with Sturt, and also playing tennis, reaching a peak at 192 in ATP rankings in 1992. However, he did become the youngest player to qualify for an Australian Open, which was a record eclipsed in 1997 by protege Lleyton Hewitt.

Today Rasheed has a reasonably high profile as Hewitt's coach, who always stood up for his protege. In 2006 he said he would "take matters into his own hands" [1] regarding the behaviour of fierce Argentian rival Juan Ignacio Chela ahead of his rematch with Hewitt in the 2nd round of the 2006 Australian Open.
