Roger Hoover (b. December 7, 1978) is a singer/songwriter from Akron, Ohio. He is often backed up by the Whiskeyhounds or the longest standing member of the band, Freddy Hill. Hoover's songs often depict the struggle of the common man/woman. Hoover often does fingerpicking and flatpicking in the tradition of early folk/country guitar pickers. His music is based on the styles of Woody Guthrie, Steve Earle, and Bruce Springsteen musical tree, but often offers an historical folkloric context for the residents of Northeastern Ohio (Cleveland, Akron and the surrounding environs).
