Rodney Jack (born September 28, 1972) is a professional football player from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. He came over to the UK to play for Torquay United, where his flair and creativity made him a favourite of the fans. However, the high-point in his career is arguably during his days at Crewe Alexandra, when the now legendary Dario Gradi bought him for a club record transfer fee of £650,000 which still stands today. He has also played for the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines national team.
Jack was spotted by Torquay United manager Eddie May when playing for FC Lambada, a Caribbean select side, signing for the Gulls on October 10, 1995. He made his league debut soon after and quickly showed his ability to change the course of the game with a piece of skill. He joined Newcastle United on trial in September 1996, Kevin Keegan offering £250,000 for him, but the deal fell through due to problems with his work permit. The following February, on Keegan's recommendation, he joined Sunderland on trial, but again returned to Plainmoor. With the attention being placed on him from higher levels it was inevitable that Jack would move on at some point, and on July 17, 1998 he moved to Crewe Alexandra for a fee of £650,000. He had played 110 times, scoring 30 goals for Torquay.
He immediately settled into the Crewe side, scoring 9 goals in his first season, but injuries and international call-ups hampered his progress. He played 188 times and scored 42 goals for Crewe before signing for Rushden & Diamonds in 2003 playing 49 games and scoring 13 goals before following manager Brian Talbot to Oldham Athletic in 2004.
His time with Oldham was blighted by injuries and the club released him in 2005. He joined Irish side Waterford United and in 2006 he rejoined Crewe Alexandra on a one-year contract keeping him at the club until the end of the 2006-2007 season.
