Rod Sykes

James Rodney "Rod" Winter Sykes is a former Canadian politician who served as Mayor of Calgary from 19681977 and Leader of the Alberta Social Credit Party from 19801982. In 1984, he was nominated by the Liberal Party for a seat in the House of Commons, but lost in the general election.

Sykes was born in 1929 in Montreal, Quebec, and was primarily raised in Victoria, British Columbia. He attended Sir George Williams University in Montreal.

Sykes and his wife Gisele have five children and fourteen grandchildren.
