Rod Aldridge is the former Executive Chairman of Capita, a British company specialising in business process outsourcing.
[edit] Overview
Rod Aldridge led The Capita Group since its formation in 1984 within the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA). In 1987, he led the management buyout of the business from CIPFA and Capita became a public company listed on the London Stock Exchange in April 1989.
Aldridge resigned from Capita on 23 March 2006 due to concern that further speculation about his involvement in the Cash for Peerages Labour Party fundraising scandal could damage the reputation of Capita.
Prior to Capita, he worked in local government for ten years at East Sussex County Council, West Sussex County Council, Brighton Borough Council and Crawley District Council. In 1974, he joined CIPFA where he was the Under Secretary with special responsibility for technical services.
He was awarded an OBE in the 1994 New Year's Honours List and was given the Freedom of the City of London in March 1996. He is a Trustee of the Prince's Trust and a Board member of The Prince's Trust Trading Company. He also chairs for the Trust the national steering group responsible for developing its XL programme, focusing on underachieving young people and delivered through Clubs in schools throughout the country. He is a former Chairman of the CBI Public Services Strategy Board.
