Rock the Bells is an annual hip-hop music festival that takes place over a two-day period at different venues in Southern and Northern California. Festival organizers seek to bring together world-class hip-hop acts that focus more on conscious, non-commercialized music, as well as other aspects of the culture - Djing, b-boying, graffing and emcee battling. The yearly festival lasts nearly all day due to the sheer number of acts that perform. Past lineups have been known to include Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Redman, De La Soul, Wu-Tang, Immortal Technique, Dilated Peoples, and Lauryn Hill. A documentary Rock the Bells 2004 is slated for premier in 2006. The 2004 show focused on reuniting all 9 original members of hip-hop supergroup, Wu-Tang. The event took place 4 months before Wu-Tang member Ol' Dirty Bastard's death. The documentary received critical acclaim at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival.
