[edit] Punk

Hi Jmabal. I was a teenager in 1976, and the art attacks were VERY influential in the south of england and in London at the time. Thats why I added the art attacks to the page. I saw the slits, clash, ramones stranglers etc at around this time. (apparently User:Robin48gx)

  • Yes, I was on the scene, too, and I agree that the art attacks were well known regionally. But all of these other bands were well-known worldwide. I think it would be great to start (and link to) an article specifically about the London music scene of the era, and the art attacks would certainly merit a mention there (as they certainly merit an article of their own), but not in this particular article. Conversely, they undoubtedly should be added to List of musicians in the first wave of punk music, where I see they are missing. -- Jmabel | Talk 19:18, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
    • Yeah Jmabal, I think they really should be in this first wave of punk along with the Lurkers, Screwdriver and Slaughter and the Dogs. For historical accuracy really.
      • Precisely. (Although I don't know Screwdriver. Is this a different band than the rather fascistic Skrewdriver?) In any case, the Lurkers and Slaughter and the Dogs are other good examples of bands that deserve articles, and would merit mention in an article on a specific area scene, but don't merit mention in a relatively short article about the entire punk genre. Just like I haven't listed two of my favorites in that article (from the UK, Big in Japan, brilliant but short-lived, most went on to good careers in music; from Seattle, my home base since '77, the Fastbacks, lasted over 20 years, absolutely worth mentioning in anything about the Seattle music scene, but not really in anything wider. Ironically, like a lot of Seattle bands, the Fastbacks are big in Japan. Unlike Big in Japan, who weren't). -- Jmabel | Talk 21:47, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
        • the original skrewdriver were simply a punk band. I think one of them became a facist and took the name with him in 79 skrewdriver yep this wiki thing is brilliant for referencing. I remember, being 15, skiving off school and listening to them along with the sex pistols, the art attacks and the lurkers. The attacks I am a dalek and the sexpistols Anarchy in the UK were the obvious tracks that stood out.

J Mabel said it above--the art attacks and lots of other bands are worth remembering, and you may have loved them above all others, but they clearly aren't among the handful of prominent acts that deserve mention in a short introductory article to the whole field of punk rock. Would you seriously claim the Art Attacks are anywhere near as influential as the Sex Pistols, the Clash or the Ramones? By the way, it would be most useful if you raise issues about the contents of the article on the talk page of the article where all the editors can respond, as opposed to in private messages. [edit] Re:Euler Diagrams POSS copyright

When you start an article, you should me a temp page about it and write there. Then when you have enough info on the subject, move it to the article's namespace. You could write these in say User:Robin48gx/New and when you're done with it, copy it to the new location.

I'm sorry about the late reply, didn't notice your message.

As for the new images, you're welcome. I suppose you'll consent with me putting up the old images for deletion now. --IByte 20:27, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

Yes sure, please delete the old images.

[edit] RE:Dog's Dick

Firstly, when you talk on my discussion page could you please sign it (using the tildes). Secondly the biggest problem was the location of dog's dick in the article. Thanks for adding it where it belonged.Vicarious 18:44, 27 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] tallboy

I've undone some of your edit, mostly becuase it made the intro paragrpah clumsy. I suggest you incorporate the points you added into the main text body in the appropiate areas.GraemeLeggett 14:09, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
