[edit] IBD

...Is this a joke or do you have some proof. I was laughing as I read this, and I hope it's true b/ Robert will eat us if it's not... Please site where you got the IBD info. 01:23, 10 October 2006 (UTC) The Hero of Time

Yeah... and note the thing at the top, where it says that for articles about living people "Controversial material (negative, positive, or just highly questionable) that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately". I allowed it to stay because this whole article was written very quickly by a large number of people who I assumed are a lot more familiar with Benfer than I am. The entire article is as yet unsourced, so if I were to delete the IBD stuff I would have to delete almost everything. I urge all of the editors: if you want this page to stay up (or at least if you don't want 90% of it to be deleted), you must add sources, primary sources if need be, though secondary sources (like newspaper articles, etc) would be prefferable. I cannot stress this enough! Please add any source that you can find that would back any of this up as quickly as possible! Esn 01:59, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
If I want to cite an episode of Knox Kast radio (where I learned most of the stuff the I added to this page), how would I go about doing that? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tingle (talkcontribs) 21:43, 10 October 2006.
Good question. There's no standard method for doing it right now (this should probably be fixed), but in the meantime I imagine you could site it like you would site a website. At least it would be there. Use the web template from WP:CITET. Esn 23:06, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
P.S. Just a note to Knox's fans who are editing the page - you KNOW that this page will eventually be targetted, so try not to make it as much of a target. What I mean is, try not to add in so much trivia about Benfer's life that the article becomes insanely long and hard to read for people who may not be familiar with him - keep it reasonable and try to stick to the notable bits. Thanks. Esn 23:16, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion

To User:Radiant!: Why was this article speedily-deleted? If someone is directing a film which will star minor Hollywood celebrities, is listed on IMDB and has massive web popularity, how can they be considered not notable? Esn 00:02, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Ok, a general question to anyone who may be looking:

Would any of the following be considered suitable proof of the existence of "A large fan base, fan listing or "cult" following"?

  • Knox's home page has been visited nearly 13,000,000 times (statistic at the bottom of his home page [1])
  • He's the 8th most bookmarked Newgrounds user, with 10,617 users [2].
  • The total number of times that his submissions have been viewed on Newgrounds (the statistics are here: [3]) is as of today 10,959,036.

Esn 01:15, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

  • It wasn't speedily deleted; please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Benfer. I disagree with the assertion that he has "massive web popularity" since he gets ~750 google hits, and I note that he hasn't yet made that film with celebrities yet, but is only planning to do so. If you wish to request undeletion of this article, the best forum would be WP:DRV. >Radiant< 08:33, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Actually theres only 750 because he's mostly known as "Knox', which is why his website is called knoxskorner. also, the film he is making is officialy in Pre-Production, which means the movie is already being made, not just "planning to be made". stillz1
Article has been deleted nine times since February 2005, and was discussed for deletion twice [Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Villain (Knox movie)], Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Robert Benfer. The page is now salted to prevent further recreation. ~Kylu (u|t) 22:18, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

He almost never uses the name "Robert Benfer", so I'm not surprised that you got only 750 hits. A google search for "klay world" (his series) brings about 12,000 hits. If the article has indeed been deleted nine times, perhaps this sentence from WP:DP applies: "Repeated re-creation of an article by previously unassociated editors may be evidence of a need for an article, but repeated nominations for deletion are not necessarily evidence that an article should be deleted, and in some cases, repeated attempts to have an article deleted may even be considered disruptive. If in doubt, don't delete."

and you have not answered my question. Regardless of the amount of hits putting his name into google gets, are those statistics that I mentioned indicative of widespread popularity or not? I would think that 11 million views of his films indicates that there are a lot of people who know about him and would find a wikipedia article usefull. I fail to see how it would count as a vanity page. Esn 00:36, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

You may wish to check out Deletion Review. I'm not the admin who deleted the page, check the page logs for that information, but I'd sincerely suggest against hassling that person. Go to Deletion Review, request a review, realize that twice before Wikipedians have decided that this person is not worth having an article over, and if you still disagree, write one yourself, place it in your userspace and work on it, then when he is notable enough for the community, you've got the article already done and can drop it in place.
Oh, and repeated attempts to have an article deleted is not the same thing as the community (via seven different admins!) deleting it. Policy pages on Wikipedia describe the policies, they do not determine the policies. Ja ne. ~Kylu (u|t) 20:50, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Archived version request

Does anyone have an archived version of the article that was in place here before Rabiant! deleted it? It was fairly complete before being deleted, and I think I may take up the suggestion proposed above of putting it in my userspace and working on it until the admins change their minds. Esn 07:24, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Ok, thanks Radiant. The archived version of this page is now available over here. Esn 23:55, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deleted?

I came here for information about his film http://imdb.com/title/tt0791352/ . My understanding is that he's 19 years old and directing a film with that cast? If this is correct then the deletion of this article was a total error. 71.110.68.228 23:24, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

I agree - I think that a deletion review is in order and I'll try and start one soon. The Robert Benfer article (as it looked right before deletion) can be found over here. For info on the film, you can go to the Villain (2007 film) page (and if you're not too busy, you could help out and lend your voice to the deletion nomination which is currently going on - that goes for any other readers of this page too, whatever your opinion may be).
